The hardest thing about knitting socks is finishing the second sock. But if you have fabulous and fun yarn it's a breeze.
I knit these from one skein of Vesper Sock Yarn in the colorway called "Maura." Using two size 2 circular needles, I followed the basic pattern given in Ann Budd's, "The Handy Book of Knitting Patterns." Some people prefer to use double pointed needles, but I find the two circular needle method to be easier for me. If you're interested in learning how to adapt just about any sock pattern to the circular method, refer to "Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles." (Both books mentioned here are listed in my Can't Live Without Sidebar on the Blog.)
