Relief, at Last
The Shawl is out of the house! Yowza!
I never thought I'd be so relieved to see something I put so much heart and soul into leave for good.
Talk about Knitting Emotion Overload.
Friends, never ever knit for all the wrong reasons. Knit for the right ones, like these:
- The devil made me do it
- The yarn called out to me
- . . . but it was in my stash!
- I thought I was a size 32 bust and I just had to cast on
- They said it was a "quick knit"
- Dog sweaters are all the rage, and I just couldn't pass on the opportunity
- It's in my school colors
- Eco-friendly--what can I say!?
- I thought of you every stitch I made
- I've finally committed to knit for the following season so I'm getting busy; leave me alone
- I never told you this, but I'm actually a test knitter
So, The Bunny is back from the hospital. She's doing okay. Turns out, she has the beginnings of some kidney disease, which is normal for a 14-year old cat. She also has some pretty huge goiters (it runs in my family) but she only has some minor hyperthyroidism. The doc took out two tumors and you can't even see the suture along her eye. The larger one, the one on her hip, is quite graphic, so I won't show you a picture of that. Let's just say she is on the mend and although we chose not to biopsy the sites further, it appears that she might be cancer free. Fingers crossed.
On knitting news: There isn't much. I have completed the front ribbing for the second version of the Yogini Bolero and will start on the sleeves tomorrow. I have spent the past three weeks in hovering mode so I'm hoping that having an "empty-er" house will revive me a bit.
Oh, and another thing, I was feeling so happy about the apparent absence of the Boyfriend Shawl that I made pork for dinner.

Oh, yeah for Miss Bunny! Glad she is doing much better and love her little smiling face in the photo.
Great reasons you listed there to knit.
HOLY COW, you made pork for dinner after they left? I sit here stunned.

I am in shock for two reasons. The firston is she took the life sucking thing with her and the second you made pork. Happy to hear Bunny is on the mend.

I'm so happy that The Bunny has had her surgery and is healing. She looks supremely happy in the photo, even with the cowl neck.
I'm test-knitting a shawl. With beads. I hate beads. It will take me years to finish this thing. But it'll be sooooo gorgeous and I want one for myself. Auuggghhhhhhh.

The soul-sucking shawl of death is gone! Yay! Now on to the stuff that makes you feel better, not worse!

I don't know why I kept thinking The Bunny was an actual rabbit. I've seen other pictures and clearly, she's a cat.
Every single thing I've ever knit for someone else was utter crap, so I stopped knitting for other people. Amazing!

Gosh, all this time and I thought you had a rabbit :P Do all your pets get along?

Hooray, I'm glad the Bunny is doing better! Give her a pat from me.

I too thought the bunny was literally a bunny... makes more sense now, and especially clears up the vision I had of a 30 lb bunny sleeping in your bed with you!

glad I wasn't the only one thinking the Bunny was a bunny. I am glad that she is feeling better. At 14 she is a grand old dame!
Pork! really?

Woo Hoo for the cat! Caution caution caution to YOU if you have to administer Thyroid meds TOPICALLY in bunny's little ear. I gleefully rubbed my cats thyroid meds into his ear for 4 months, had my yearly blood tests and ALL three liver tests spiked OVER 2 and 3 hundred. The only difference in my life over a year because i have no life, was the meds for the cat. I read up on it, saw that this med could cause rare liver damage, stopped using my bare finger to rub them in, had tests run (27 tests this time, at the doctor's request who pooh poohed MY theory) and they were all negative.
Be aware or be square.
And i can't wait for your book.

Ok, she needs a KNITTED collar - she's earned it! Maybe a little angora? I will say some Bunny/kitty prayers for her good health.

Oddly enough I also feel a sense of relief! Good for you, grace and perseverance are in your corner. Yeah yeah, it never feels or looks good when we persevere, but then-- payola!
My cat just came back from the vet in the same mode, but I had to remove the "Elizabethan collar" so he could relax and groom himself (don't you love how shocked the Elizabethans would be if they knew they were connected to this feline fashion faux pas?).
Cracks me up that folks thought he was a bunny, when so clearly he is The Bunny.
Still struggling a bit to sub a yarn for Mentionable pattern-- Yarn Botanika's colors of the merino tencel kinda annoy me at present, any ideas for something with some shine? Ideas welcome from all...

oh and I see you posted this little number to your Losers album--- the sweetness of having the last word never gets old, does it? Right on!

I have loved your blog since I saw one of your FOs...the losers pictures from way back and I thought that you were a person whose blog I could read for the long haul. And I have. I've paid attention to your writing, knowing what was going on during workouts, when you were cooking a lot of pork, feeling the emotion in your writing. And enjoying the knitting. I say all of this because (like a few above) I thought The Bunny was a rabbit. All of this time. I didn't know you had a cat. It seems like something I should have known. Regardless, I'm so glad she's doing better!

Poor Bunny. She does look happy to be home, though. I hope her recovery is smooth and easy.
