Ohio

Hamburgeryarn_2

Ha. This morning we were the last ones to go downstairs and get breakfast. This afternoon, we were the first ones downstairs for free cocktails. Thing is, we read the sign wrong and we arrived one full hour early. Ohio.

I like Ohio. Well, I don't know if I really, really like it yet because I've only been here 20 hours, but there are things I've already noticed about Ohio that I think I like. First thing I noticed is, even the real old guys help you put your luggage on the bus. They smile at you, too. Second, road rage, at least on the few freeways we've encountered, doesn't seem to exist. At home, at three in the morning someone will show you the bird if they knew you could see them. Third, no one seems to be in that much of a hurry. In the beginning, we got to thinking the service was just bad. Then, we realized that the whole pace of the place is slower than Los Angeles, and that is something I could get used to.

But the very best thing I have discovered about Ohio so far is that you can order a hamburger medium rare, if you like. In Los Angeles, they have laws against such things. I mean, you could kill yourself eating a medium rare hamburger. And gosh knows, they wouldn't want you to sue them after you kill yourself eating a medium rare hamburger.  They'd much rather you sue them after you choke to death on a hamburger with the texture of a hockey puck, instead.Burger

I managed to knit almost half of two socks. I love this new Regia Cotton Color. It is softer than the last iteration and the colors are amazing.

BTW: After tomorrow, I'll have a half-day to check out some yarn shops.

You are making my homesick for Ohio. . . . ENJOY!!! It really is a great place.

I love Ohio, I lived there for 10 years. If you are still there, try Skyline Chili, I recommend a 3 way and cheese coney. It's an Ohio thing. :)

Enjoy that burger !!
It seems odd to see a picture of you in a cold, overcast setting!

Ohio! I was born there, then moved to NJ when I was 13. Culture shock, for sure!!! Hope you have a great time!!

This is L.A baby...people are jerks and all the lawyers are getting rich cause you can sue for just about anything...like that lady that wants to Sue Ellen Degeneres (sp?) because she had heart palpitations while doing a little dance in the audience of her show...because you know it's Totally Ellens fault.
Gotta love it here. Plus the road rage thing is now so out of control I'm actaully afraid to drive most of the time.

For what it's worth, it was beautiful in Cleveland all of last week, only to turn dreary on Friday. Sorry!

I'm from Ohio, glad you like! When I lived in NYC, going home to OH was always the best.

I know what you mean about the pace being a little slower. I grew up in California, moved to Northern Kentucky, lived in South Carolina (MUCH slower pace there!) and Connecticut for a while before returning to Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati, OH area.

What part of Ohio are you in? I know some good yarn shops to check out in the Cincinnati area :o)

So funny you mentioned road rage because when I go home to L.A. the first time I get flipped off on the freeway give me a warm, fuzzy feeling of home.

I'm in Beachwood!

OH I hope the weather gets better for you! It was really crapy yesterday and today! It is supposed to improve! It's funny because around here it doesn't seem soo slow, but then compared to LA...Keep watch though some is sure to flip you the bird sooner or later! LOL...I just hope it's not me! (I yell alot at people when I drive!)

Have fun shopping tomorrow! Can't wait to get your view of the shops around here!

Enjoy...from a Clevelander!

Tell me you photoshopped that headstone. Very funny. The weather should warm up for tomorrow. Not LA warm, but warm enough for a hand knit sweater. I hope you took this opportunity to bring and wear some woolies.

the headstone is NOT photoshopped. It was just a happy coincidence (but not necessarily for Mr. Hamburger).

You're in my hometown! I wish I knew what part of town you were in so I could recommend some places to go.

Poor Mr. Hamburger. RIP.

My family has many long-running, somewhat unkind, jokes about Ohio. But really, it's a fine place.

I snorted at the headstone photo. Is that wrong?

Here's to Ecoli! Whoo hoo!!! Actually, the alcohol will kill that shit. ;)

Ah. OK. Beachwood. That explains it. Because from the comment about the lack of road rage I knew you couldn't possibly be anywhere near Toledo (Road Rage Capital of the World), or, as I affectionately call it, Toiletto. Enjoy your travels!

Well, come to Hudson (just north of Akron) and visit Miss Chickpea's Funky Fibers. Your eyes will be "wow"-ed and we'd love to have you.

You can order a hamburger medium rare here in Chicago. In fact, the other day the waiter asked my 10 yr son how he would like his burger cooked. My daughter piped up "on a grill"...while my son just glared at her and said "just past medium rare....please don't bring it to me brown"

Gotta love it!

Ahhh! I still LOVE that coat!!! If you ever decide to sell it let me know!!!

One important thing you forgot to mention, is that you can still wear a knitted sweater in April! Try that in your 95 LA heat!

nice! i'm going to the tnna in ohio in June, good to know I can still eat my burger, Just the Way I like It!! :-) WOO!

aaah! i love it! you have really outdone yourself with this post and photo! good luck on the show taping...

I'm from Southern California (and live here now) but I spent a couple of years in Ohio. At first, I wanted to jump behind the counter at the grocery store and ring up my groceries myself because the checker was always so sloooooooooow. Then I realized that, yes, the pace was just slower and I had to adjust. Probably added years to my life.

What you really have to try while you are there is Graeters Ice Cream. Any flavor. And please bring some back to California with you.
