When it comes to yarn, I have my favorites. I love, love, love anything by Blue Sky Alpacas. And I love, love, love just about everything by Karabella. I adore Koigu KPPPM, too. (Uh oh, must get some of that; I don't have any in my stash at all, and now that I reminded myself I'm going to pine away for it until I go get some. Oh no. The pain of not having any Koigu KPPPMmmmm.)
I am simply true blue to my favorites. Or at least I was...until the day before yesterday.
Enter my new love: Louisa Harding Kimono Angora. Oy. Oy. Oy, the love.
This stuff has me in such a lather that I have two of these caps going at once on a circular needle. One for me and one for girlfriend. Yeah, I know, the whole thing smacks of mother-daughter outfit action but I tell you this: If someone said that I could have a sweater made out of this as long as I agree to let Girlfriend wear a MATCHING one and dance around me while I sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic with one of those hand-held horn things in my front yard, I'd agree to it. In fact, I'd agree to all of the above and change to diet tonic for a whole month, to boot.
On second thought, that would be too much to ask. But I would do the first part.
This stuff is all that your typical angora isn't. For example, I made a scarf out that Paton's Divine and I nearly died from the Angora-Stuck-in-Your-Eye-and-You-Can't-Fish-it-Out Syndrome...I know, the
Paton's stuff isn't tippy top, but the angora in it was spun so loosely that I'm still picking the fibers out of my eyelashes and out from between my toes a year or two later.
I just know that the only syndrome I'm gonna get from the Kimono Angora is Must-Have-More. My only wish is that she would offer it in a solid, too.
BTW: I got the book and the Kimono Angora at SuperCrafty. Her prices are great; generally lower than most.
BTW #2: Oh, and get this: I went to my LYS because I knew that she carried the Louisa Harding line, and wouldn't you know, the only yarn of hers that she wasn't carrying was the Kimono! I asked her why, and she said, "Ick! Angora! It gets stuck in your eyelashes!" (I'm thinking that even if this stuff did get stuck in my lashes, it would most definitely be a glamorizing thing.)
Also, a new loser was added to the Photo Album. I figured it was time.

That yarn looks so pretty. I love the Louisa Harding line. I think I've tried everything except the angora, but now I think I'll have to get some of that too. I actually made the red scarf on the same page as your hat. When I bought my yarn I somehow failed to anticipate the million ends to weave in, it was worth it though, the colors look great together.

Wait?! An Angora worth the inhaling, coughing and general ptthing? I'm gonna have to check that out.

I've pawed that Kimono Angora, and it's a beautiful thing. That pattern book is dreamy as well. I just like thinking that if I knit something from it I'd be oh-so-English.

...which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, I'm thinking. You know, HWWV went to boarding school in England and all. I'm thinking this is a good way to say "Cheers!"

Hey, we have the book that's on the coffee table next to your ripped out booties.
"A one hump camel makes a one hump ..."

I tried to crop that out!

I'm am so glad you said so. I bought a couple of skeins of this stuff like a month back. It was on knitter review and I just had to try. My dog ate on of the skeins to which I promptly flipped out. But I agree. It was a a dream to knit with. love love love.

It looks lovely, I'm working on a design using the Blue Sky Alpaca Silk at the moment- it has to be the nicest yarn I have ever had the privilege to knit(fondle)and the best thing is that the yarn was donated so I didn't even have to pay for it!

Mmm, I've been meaning to try the Kimono Angora for a while now... I love most angora though. FWIW, Divine is mohair, not angora. Berroco Pleasure (sadly discontinued, but still available at Webs) is another great angora yarn, though the colors aren't as amazing as in Louisa Harding's line.

I truly understand, I want to take them to sleep and cuddle them every waking moment.

Hmmm...that's the second good review of that yarn I've seen. What does it say about the LYS owner that they don't know their yarns well enough to pass up such a good one?? Maybe that's too harsh.

Oooooh, I love that yarn! And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who stinks at finishing. "Everyone Poops" is a CLASSIC, right up there with "The Story of Farts"!

Thanks for the plug for the kimono. Always on the lookout for something new!
Haven't said hi in a while and was feeling bad about it, but I always end up feeling so insignificant as a commenter when it feels like you've already said it all in your post. Anyway, *waving* hi!

Although your slippers fell apart I still think they're really cute. I've been looking to make slippers that are not the typical old school ones.. I figure I could pull something together, but why reinvent the wheel...
Where'd you get the pattern?
Thanks!

Jen, the pattern is Cutie Booties and I got it at helloknitty.com

You have some excellent taste in yarns. Best get more KPPPM, can't get caught without that stuff. I like the whole mother/daughter hat thing and its not like you are using the same yarn colors for both.

hi-
this totally has nothing to do with your recent post, but you've inspired me to knit some socks (I am not usually a sock knitter), and I want to knit them on two circs two at a time. That's how you do it, right? My question is a) how did you learn to do that? or is there an online resource for that? and b) are their specific patterns for this sock knitting technique?
thanks

That's the tutorial I studied before I tried to do two at a time. I suggest to anyone who wants to try it, that it is best to understand how to construct one sock on two circs, first!

Oooh Louisa Harding! I first spied her designs on KnittingGarden and ended up buying the accessories book and some yarn shortly after. I am making the Flora beanie right now...and loving the Impressions yarn. Glad to hear Supercrafty stocks her stuff, I usually shop there for needles and wot nots. =)

Ok, am I the only one who cracked up (and still does every time I think about it) at the mental picture of girlfriend in a hat, dancing around you, while you sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic with one of those hand-held horns. I nominate that for the best blogging mental image of the year!
